Did you see us in the Blackpool Evening Gazette last week? Our friends, the Blackpool Male Voice Choir have a new patron in local boy Alfie Boe and the article not only included this but also mentioned our upcoming joint concert with the gentlemen towards the end of the year. Did you hear us on the radio?
A couple of weeks ago at a rehearsal we were recorded by Paul and Lucy Breeze for their radio show "Best Kept Secrets". The interviews and clips from the rehearsal were broadcast on 103.2 Preston FM on Friday 16th March . You can find out more at: http://www.bestkeptsecrets.biz/2012/03/best-kept-secretsin-conversation-show.html Our recent performance at Sacred Heart Church was filmed and a DVD will be prepared for sale at a nominal fee (probably £5) to cover the cameraman's expenses, DVD production and a donation to Sue Parkin's Kick Start Charity.
If you would like a copy of the DVD send us your details via the Contact Us page. Today The Capricorn Singers donated their old (and in perfect working order) Technics P30 Stage Piano and Laney 100W Amplifier to Baines School Music Department.
![]() Kickstart Kenya caring for streetkids... Was a small group based in Lancaster, Preston and Blackpool, however now is down to one person in the UK (Sue Parkin) trying to raise funds to support 7 street boys who live in a small house in Ruiru, just outside Nairobi Kenya. This organisation buys food, clothing and medicines, in addition sends the boys to school to train and get an education. There are still another 40 boys who live rough in the surrounding area and spend their days scavenging in the rubbish tips. The Capricorn Singers will be helping raise funds for this worthy cause by donating all raffle money raised at our Christmas Concert, Thornton Little Theatre, 7:30pm on Sat 11th Dec 2010 If you think you would like to make a donation or help in some way please contact Sue Parkin via email direct. The wheels are definitely in motion for an exchange concert with the City of Stoke Male Voice Choir and the Capricorn Singers.
There will be two concerts: 1) Thornton-Cleveleys / Fleetwood area (probably the Marine Hall Fleetwood) in March 2011 and 2) Stoke On Trent Methodist Hall Longton in September 2011. I'm sure the publicity machine will now go into overdrive to make both concerts a success and enjoyable for all. Please note, that with immediate effect, the two email addresses: info@thecapricornsingers.org and members@thecapricornsingers.org are no longer valid.
Public visitors to our website can use our CONTACT FORM which will forward a message to the appropriate email address. Choir Members can access the MEMBERS AREA and check which email address(es) are appropriate for David and other members. You may have all been waiting with bated breath, well you don't have to wait any longer. The article on The Capricorn Singers has been published and is in the July edition of Lancashire Life Magazine see p190 and p191. Unfortunately we have had to postpone our Radio Lancashire Interview on the Sally Naden Show, until later in the year. The Capricorn Singers publicity team have been working their magic and managed to get an interview with Lancashire Life (magazine). |
