Musical Director – Chrissie Mason

Chrissie’s love for music was nurtured through singing in the choir and dabbling in playing a number of instruments during her school days. She played the descant and treble recorders, before deciding to learn the trumpet, much to the delight of her parents!  Her fascination with learning musical instruments continued with the saxophone, flute, and piano, until she settled on taking her music exams on the clarinet.

After a musical hiatus, Chrissie joined One Accord Ladies Choir, based in Cleveleys, and very quickly rekindled her love for singing in choral harmony. She started singing with The Capricorn Singers Ladies Choir in late 2010 and, following a successful audition, was appointed the choir’s Musical Director in April 2015.

She has since gained an excellent reputation as a choral director, arranger and conductor and has worked with a number of other Fylde-Coast based choirs and singing groups. This link to local choirs shows a determination for all age groups but specific support for choristers in and around Blackpool.

Her love for singing is infectious and Chrissie prides herself on leading uplifting and fun rehearsals, a joyous highlight of the week for all choir members. Her chosen repertoire is often challenging but inclusive and her support for everyone who wants to sing is very obvious to all.

In recent years she joined the Lytham St Annes Shanty Crew, who perform regularly around the North West singing sea shanties and raising funds for the RNLI.

Under Chrissie’s leadership, The Capricorn Singers have achieved many accolades and awards including multiple placings in the Lancashire Choir of the Year, and first place in the choir class of both the Skipton and Fleetwood Music Festivals on multiple occasions.

Chrissie Mason.
